Huge Hike in the prices of CNG

Well as we are observing a huge hike in the prices of Petrol, the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has also reached to its highest level. The CNG prices was increased yesterday by All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA).

CNG PRICES IN PAKISTAN

CNG has always been a source of fuel for the average middle class people who finds it difficult to bear petrol for their cars. Well, some people don’t like it for many reasons like Limited Availability, Reduced storage space, Lowered performance, Engine injector issues and lesser fuel range. Despite of these issues many people of Pakistan use it as the main medium of fuel for their cars. The price of CNG makes it bearable for the average class people.

After the immense hike in the petrol prices, the CNG price has also been increased to up to 150 in Punjab with a price increase of Rs 15 making the price of the CNG the most ever in Punjab.

It is quite astonishing that the price of CNG in Sindh was Rs 123 in the second phase of the year and it is now been reached to Rs 195 per kg. Well few days back its price was 184 RS per kg and now its price is 195 Rs per kg which means its price has been increased 10 Rs per kg in Sindh.

REASON BEHIND THE INCREASE OF PRICE

When the price of the CNG was increasing in October in both the provinces of Pakistan the Chairman APCNG, Gayas Paracha said at that time, that the price will decreased in the coming months. Well we have observed completely different thing to what he has said and the price has increased instead of decreasing.

Well he has said in his press conference that we are increasing the price of CNG and increasing General Sales Tax (GST) on CNG. On this the government said they had to increase the prices because of the increasing rates of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and inflation of dollar rate. But on the other hand, the government is decreasing GST on petrol. So they have overcome Petrol with CNG.

This means that the Government is victimizing the CNG users. Anyhow, the Chairman said that running vehicles on CNG will still ensure 8-9% savings compared to petrol and vehicle owners should CNG instead of Petrol.

What’s your take on this? Do let us know about your opinion in comment box about the increasing of Sales Tax on CNG?
